Beliefs

  1.  God who is eternally existent, infinite, Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of the universe, created Human beings to have an ongoing, intimate and personal relationship with Him. He created them as a holy being, in His moral likeness; innocent but not perfect. (Genesis 1; Leviticus 19:2; Deuteronomy 6:4–5; Isaiah 5:16; 6:1–7; 40:18–31; Matthew 3:16–17; 28:19–20; John 14:6–27; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 4:4–6; Ephesians 2:13–18; 1 John 1:5; 4:8)
  2. Since the act of sin in the garden of Eden, human beings corrupted their state of holiness and severed their relationship with God. On their own, human beings live in a continued state of sin and are therefore separated from an ongoing, intimate and personal relationship with God. In this state of sin and separation, human beings have forfeited their right to eternal life with God and will come to a place of death and ultimately eternal separation from God.
  3. Because of God’s desire to salvage His relationship with human beings, He, throughout time, has continued to reach out in various ways in order to recreate an ongoing, intimate and personal relationship with mankind. Because on mankind’s state of sin, mankind continued to reject God’s relationship and in fact, built religions that overshadowed and replaced that relationship (Ezekiel 18:32).
  4. God finally was born into humanity as a human. To be fully human, one has to be born of a human. About 700 BC, Isaiah prophesied this very thing. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23). His name, to be accurate, is Yeshua. We know his name as translated from the Greek Iesous, as Jesus. Yeshua/Jesus bears the characteristics as fully man and fully God. To maintain deity Yeshua/Jesus needed to have a heavenly father instead of an earthly father. So, Yeshua/Jesus was born of a woman and of the Holy Spirit. Yeshua/Jesus lived a sinless life and became our role model for living a life that God created mankind in the beginning. Yeshua/Jesus claimed to be the door through which you can enter into a relationship with God. (John 10:9-16) A relationship so close that God takes residence in those who follow His teachings. (John 14:23) (Matt 1:20-25; 16:15–16; John 1:1-18; John 5:22-23; John 3;  Luke 1:26–35; Acts 2:22–36; Romans 8:3, 32–34; Galatians 4:4–5; Philippians 2:5–11; Colossians 1:12–22; 1 Timothy 6:14–16; Hebrews 1:1–5; 7:22–28; 9:24–28; 1 John 1:1–3; 4:2–3, 15, Revelation 1:8).
  5. With certainty, there are definitely 55 Old Testament prophecies about Jesus that have been fulfilled during His life here on Earth approximately 2000 years ago. These prophesies cover Jesus’ birth, Jesus’ ministry, Jesus’ death, resurrection, and Jesus’ role in the church.
  6. We believe that Jesus gave of his life for all humanity and died a sacrificial death to bear our sin in order to redeem those who make Him lord of their life and follow His teachings. We believe that Jesus conquered death and rose from the grave, then ascended into heaven to prepare a place for all those who follow His teachings. We finally believe that everyone who chooses to make Jesus the Lord of their life, Jesus becomes their Savior and all those in this relationship will live with Him for eternity. We understand that the Greek and Hebrew terms for Faith and Believe are active verbs. We are saved by Faith to Believe in Jesus, which means that we are to act and follow in obedience to God’s revealation for salvation unto Him. We finally believe that for all people who continue to reject the teachings of Jesus and the Scriptures will continue to live in separation from God for eternity. This place of separation will be, as taught by Jesus, “in outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”. (Zech 14:5; Matt 24:27-30; Rev 1:7, Matthew 8:12, 13:41–42, 24:44–51, 25:14–30).
  7. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower believers, to guide them into all truth, to teach them all things, to strengthen and unify the church and to help them to renew the characteristics of God as he created human beings. All of this for one larger purpose, to honor and glorify the Son, Jesus our Lord and Savior (John 14:26, 16:13, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:13, Ephesians 3:16).
  8. The scriptures, The Holy Bible, are God’s word to mankind, both Old and New Testaments. They are God’s ultimate word to us, as long as they coincide with God’s attributes. Since God can never do anything outside of His own characteristics, it is important that we compare our understanding of scripture to who God is and aligning all to God’s characteristics. God said that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He also said that He never changes and he never lies. (1 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 18:30, 33:4, Hebrews 13:8, Numbers23:19, Isaiah 40:8)
  9. According to many passages in The Holy Scriptures, there is eternal life after physical death on earth. It is clear that the resurrection of the dead will occur and separate the righteous from the unrighteous. Inasmuch as God is Holy, He will pass judgement to those who will spend eternity with Him and those who will not.  God gave the entire choice to each individual, to choose eternity with Him, or to choose eternity apart from Him. We call it “Free Will”. With this, is the understanding that God is on the throne of all eternal judgement and that no human being has the power nor the knowledge of God’s final judgement. God has always given grace beyond our own comprehension. According to scripture, God reveals Himself to all mankind and each of us are accountable to our response to His revelation of Himself. We also believe that all believers, (To include The Lord God YHWH and Yeshua/Jesus the Annointed Messiah), of all time in history will be resurrected to live eternally with God. While those who lived a life of unbelief and unrighteousness will be resurrected to an eternal separation from God. (1 John 2:17, 5:11, John 3:16, 3:36, 10:28-30, 17:3, Romans 6:23, Proverbs 19:16).
  10. We believe in the physical return and reign of Jesus Christ with His saints. (Zech 14:5; Matt 24:27-30; Rev 1:7)
  11. We at The Believer’s Journey take the position that a believer is one who follows the teachings of the one and only true God and Yeshua/Jesus the Anointed One. Whom we believe are one in the same.
  12. We are called The Believer’s Journey, because we believe that not only is Christianity a Relationship with Jesus and other believers, salvation as a believer in Jesus is also a Journey that we grow and mature in as we walk in fellowship with Jesus as well as other believers in Him.
